5 Unexpected tips for success
Some of you might have been on a fitness journey for a while now OR maybe the bug just bit you. Either way, it is safe to say you came here looking for easy and minimally painful ways to make progress. HOWEVER, many skip this crucial step to make long lasting change! Get yourself a beautiful journal for this activity and give yourself at least an hour. Do not rush through these questions. They are important for establishing the foundation for your journey.
Ask yourself why you want xyz goal. TRULY. Not the surface level answer you would tell someone in the office. The answer you would give your best friend or your pet that could not tell a soul. If we cannot be honest with ourselves who can we be?
Ask yourself what your life will look like after achieving this goal. Give yourself space to imagine things go RIGHT! I know all of us are used to downplaying our abilities to be "realistic" but imagine how your morning would look, what your home would look and feel like, the clothes you are wearing, what your everyday looks like. Be as detailed as possible.
Now imagine what your life looks like without changing a thing. Staying on the same trajectory you are now. Here's where I want you to be real with yourself. Paint the reality you are trying to numb yourself from or ignore. Again, be as detailed as possible.
Reverse engineer your goal and choose the easiest 1st step or habit. Do that step consistently before moving to the next step or habit to conquer. Build up that confidence within yourself.
This last one will be over the course of days or even weeks. Each day, I want you to write old stories you used to tell yourself and rewrite them into something healing OR write a new one that is empowering! These old stories might have served you in the past. You might have even used it as armor to protect yourself when you got scared. However, they will not serve you in this next chapter.
Examples of old stories might be:
"I can't do this long term."
"I give up right when things get hard."
"I've tried it all. How is this different?"
"I don't deserve to feel ____."
Here are examples of new empowering stories:
"I am worthy of giving myself my best."
"I can do hard things."
"I give myself permission to win!"
"I forgive myself for my mistakes."
"I get better everyday."
Old stories may bubble up. Speaking to you from the back of your mind when you stumble. In those moments, come back to these new stories until eventually they fade into the background and seem like they belonged to a different person. In a way, that will be true. You will become a new person. Inside and out.
You got this babe. :)
